Event Catering & Mobile Bar Specialists

At The Tipsy Pigs, we believe the heart of every great event is food & drink that everyone loves. Founded in 2014 by three school friends who shared 20 years experience in catering, hospitality & events, they made a decision to buy an old VW Campervan and turn it into a mobile bar – The Tipsy Pigs were born.

Over the past 10 years, our business has grown into one of Surrey’s most trusted event catering and bar hire companies, proudly running Seasons Café at Guildford Cathedral alongside delivering bespoke catering across Surrey, London, Hampshire and Kent.

Our Story – The Tipsy Pigs

James and Carla founded The Tipsy Pigs in 2014 with a shared mission — to make people happy through exceptional food, sociable drinks, and flawless event catering.

Their partnership brings together Carla’s culinary creativity, passion for hospitality, and dedication to quality with James’s expertise in event production, client management, and business operations. Together, they’ve grown The Tipsy Pigs from a single VW Campervan bar into one of Surrey’s most loved catering and events companies — known for its warm service, honest food, and unforgettable experiences.

Carla

Co-Founder & Head Chef

Carla began her culinary journey straight out of school at the world-renowned Dorchester Hotel, where she honed her catering skills in one of London’s most prestigious kitchens. After progressing to manage several successful restaurants, including Sands near Woking, she brought her passion for great food and hospitality to The Tipsy Pigs.

As our Head Chef and Co-Founder, Carla combines classical training with inspiration gathered from her travels around the world to create memorable, flavour-packed dishes that celebrate quality ingredients and honest cooking. She leads her team with a commitment to excellence, ensuring every guest enjoys the exceptional service and food standards The Tipsy Pigs are known for.

James

Co-Founder & Director

Before launching The Tipsy Pigs, James was a Director at an independent brand experience agency, delivering high-profile campaigns and live events for some of the UK’s biggest names, including Topshop, Nike, and British Airways.

With years of experience managing complex events from concept to completion, James developed a deep understanding of how to deliver exceptional experiences — on time, on budget, and beyond expectations. Today, he brings that same creative energy and operational know-how to The Tipsy Pigs, overseeing everything from client relationships & event delivery to business strategy and marketing.

Our VW Campervan ‘Tipsy’ Started It All

Back in 2014, The Tipsy Pigs was born with a rescued VW Campervan we lovingly named ‘Tipsy’ — our first ever mobile bar and food truck. We found her on the scrap heap, brought her back to life, and hit the road serving food and drinks at every kind of event imaginable — from small local fetes to open-air cinema nights in Derby.

Tipsy was full of character. She rattled her way up the M40 at 40 mph, had no heating, no fuel gauge (yes, we ran out more than once!), and regularly got stuck in muddy fields. She was broken into more than a few times, awful to drive, and yet she never failed to start. Those were unforgettable days and the true beginning of our journey.

As The Tipsy Pigs grew into the thriving catering and events company we are today, our beloved Tipsy began spending more time parked up than out on the road. Eventually, we passed her on to a new owner — but she’ll always be part of our story and the spirit of everything we do.
