We are a little bit delirious to announce our first adventure into the café industry by taking on the picturesque canal-side café within The Lightbox gallery & museum.
Taking over a café in Woking, where the three directors grew up is an exciting development of our business. It’s the perfect platform to showcase our cooking, service and style to people interested in our catering.
We’re now entering our third year of trading and this feels like one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind… oh hang on, I’m nicking quotes but you get the point, it’s a big step in the right direction for our business. Over the last three years, we learnt (sometimes the hard way) that trade is very good at the weekends in summer but a lot harder to come by Mon to Fri and over the winter months.
Our thoughts had turned to a trading premises but the reality of starting up from scratch is a huge financial burden and risk. As soon as we heard the contract to manage the café inside The Lightbox was up for grabs we jumped at the chance.
The Lightbox is one of the most culturally exciting spaces in Woking and a key part of the local community. We felt right away that whilst the café was established in Surrey, it had lost a bit of its soul, serving up comfortable but bland food and looking a bit like a staff canteen.
We knew there was an opportunity to make it better. We’ve undergone a complete refurbishment of the serving & dining area to create a much warmer style with lots of reclaimed timber and colour. We hope you like.
The newly named Seasons Café & Kitchen will also enjoy a brand new wholesome and healthy menu with exciting seasonal specials such as warm salad of sea trout in the spring and braised venison come the autumn. Our skilled head chef Neil, will be bringing restaurant-quality dining alongside classic café favourites.
Seasons is open 6 days a week (closed Mondays) but we have lots of plans for special evening events, such as the upcoming Valentines Dinner & Cinema Package, where couples get to enjoy a gourmet 3-course dinner from us and The Lightbox are hosting a cinema viewing of the most romantic film of all time, Brief Encounter. Keep a lookout on the Lightbox website for more events soon.
We really hope to see you down there soon.
